The bathroom is built entirely for pleasure, with the centrepiece a cast-iron bath and a long mahogany sofa to recline on while you talk to the person bathing. The bedroom has sloping ceilings, painted furniture and sheepskin rugs. There are towelling bathrobes in the Tudor wardrobe and Egyptian linen on the bed. From the bathroom you pass under a 2-metre lintel made from one stone, into the airy, double-height sitting room, with DVDs and masses of books.

In the winter we light the wood-burning stove in the bathroom for your arrival. If you come at tea time we’ll bring you tea and home made cake; get here after six and we’ll mix you a cocktail. Breakfast includes produce from the garden, our own organic bread and granola and local smoked salmon.
